A conspiracy theory group which publishes the newsletter "The Lone Gunman," a title taken from X's dismissal of conspiracy theory. They are so paranoid they make even Mulder look normal. They seem to know everything about everything, mainly conspiracies.

Members: Byers - military and information systems; Langly - communications and surveillance technology; Frohike - photographic and surveillance.

Residence: A warehouse in Washington, DC, with the sign "The Lone Gunmen. Publishers of 'The Magic Bullet' newsletter"; includes living quarters, scientific equipment and anti-surveillance technology of all kinds.

Founded in 1989 after meeting at a Computer and Electronics Show in Baltimore and becoming involved with Susanne Modeski, who told them of secret human testing and wide-ranging conspiracies. This was also the time of their first contact with Fox. There were also fourth member of this group - The Thinker, but we could seen him only in one episode ("Anasazi").

And... An accomplished computer hacker, Byers contributes to the group his expertise in the monitoring of computer traffic. He is also responsible for keeping tabs on the intelligence community. Byers possesses near-encyclopedic and eclectic knowledge on a wide range of scientific and conspiracy information. He has managed to prevent the disclosure of any personal information. As is the case with the other members of The Lone Gunmen, Byers has been known to employ fictitious names and to create false past histories.

And... Aside from a decided lack of personal hygiene that precludes any known sexual assignations, nothing is known about his personal life. As is the case with the other members of The Lone Gunmen, Frohike has been known to employ fictitious names and to create false past histories.

And... He possesses an investigative zeal which motivates him to work long hours uncovering the smallest kernels of information. Though fervent in his belief in the existence of covert government activities directed against the public, Langly nevertheless betrays a sarcastic sense of humor that belies his sometimes unorthodox convictions. As is the case with the other members of The Lone Gunmen, Langly has been known to employ fictitious names and to create false past histories.
